Beijing's successful bidfor the 2022 Winter Olympics means it will become the first city
ever to stage a summer and winter Games.
The Chinese capital beat Kazakhstan's Almaty thanks
to its "focus on sustainability, legacy and transparency", according
to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
But human rights groups have described the decision
as "a slap in the face".
And others have a more prosaic concern: the lack of
snow in Beijing.
