MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxer Jason "El Niño" Pagara needed only two rounds to defeat his Mexican opponent, Cesar Chavez, and successfully defend his WBO international junior welterweight championship.
Pagara dropped Chavez twice in the opening round of
their Pinoy Pride 29 main event, and finished the bout in the second round when
he connected on a brutal left hook that landed flush on Chavez's jaw.
The referee stopped the fight at the 1:56 mark of
the second round to give Pagara a technical knockout win. Pagara now has a record of 35 wins with only two
losses.
